Day 122 | A Day Off

July 9, 2017

This morning I woke up on the brink of tears. I was already exhausted and the day hadn’t even started yet. All I wanted was to stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, mold avoidance never gives us a day off, so I slowly forced myself to get up and started wiping down the van.

Little did I know, I was in for a surprise! When Brett popped his head into the van to say “Good morning!” he informed me that he was planning to do all the chores today. He said he wanted me to rest and take the day off. I felt a little guilty accepting his help but I was mostly just relieved! Wow! What a guy I married!

So, I just sat in my chair today. I wasted time, worked on writing, wasted more time and rested. I think I might be experiencing withdrawal symptoms from taking that last painkiller dose out a little too quickly. I was in more pain today and just felt exhausted and gloomy most of the day. It didn’t help that it was another miserably hot day.

I feel really bad that Brett had to do laundry and cook in the blazing heat but he was happy to do it. He’s a lot more efficient than I am. I think that’s probably because he’s stronger and can carry more water and wet clothes at a time. Normally, I have to do it little by little.

So, when he finished the chores we still had time left over to be together and chat. The evening passed in pleasant conversation. We talked about our goals, our finances, finding a church and prioritizing relationships. Finally! A restful day! 😊

By the way, Brett and I made a beautiful PDF of my favorite resources for suffering souls. I created the content and he made it look fancy with his superduper graphic design skills. Days of rest are a blessing! You might be right about the painkiller thing, because I’ve done something similar before. I was taking pain killers after my wisdom teeth got pulled, and I thought “I’m feeling better” one day, and stopped taking them. Big mistake! My mouth was still healing the four new holes it had, and let me know in a big way. I do hope you can get fully off those meds, but if you still have them, just my opinion (talk to your doctor if you can first), keep tapering off your doses as you already were. That’s my thoughts. Love your hat, by the way! 😀

Thanks so much Ruth! I thought about going back on a tiny dose for three more days but it seems to be getting better. 🙂

I agree. Brett’s so special!! Your both blessed. I took Prozac (for my mold symptoms!! Before we knew). I had head zaps and lots of stomach problems from it. I tried several methods to slowly get off but ended up with a liquid formula that I decreased the dose 5% every three weeks or more some times. There were lots of calculations and watering down the liquid in order to measure the tiny doses. Best done with paper and pencil and a baby syringe. So you’re on the right track!! It’s been done before and it works.

Thanks for sharing your experience Margaret! Definitely, the slower you go the easier it is. I didn’t even know they had liquid formulas. That would make tapering much easier.
