    Day 49 | A Bad Reaction

    April 27, 2017

This afternoon I started feeling really bad while I was doing the laundry. I felt like the energy had been sucked out of me and my muscles got really weak and heavy. Then I got a headache and started to feel really gloomy. I decontaminated (showered and changed clothes) but it didn’t help. “It must be the location”, I thought. “I never really liked it here anyway.”

I was later told by another biotoxin illness sufferer that he believes there’s cyanobacteria in the area. He said that I would probably react when the wind started kicking up dust. This made perfect sense to me because my symptoms only started when it got super windy. As my reaction progressed to throat tightness, Brett and I decided we had to leave.

We went deeper into the Lincoln National Forest toward Mayhill. I started feeling better after we passed Cloudcroft but we kept going to Mayhill. We found a spot to park for the night only to find that I reacted there. So we had to turn around and go back to the place where I was feeling better. We finally found a pull out by the side of the road and decided to sleep here. It probably took us 3 hours of driving! I hate how much time it takes to find a place to sleep for one night!
