    Day 140 | A Rather Blustery Day

    July 27, 2017

Oh the wind is lashing lustily
And the trees are thrashing thrustily
And the leaves are rustling gustily
So it’s rather safe to say

That it seems that it may turn out to be
    Feels that it will undoubtedly
It looks like a rather blustery day, today

    -Winnie the Pooh

Today was a blustery day indeed! The strong gusts of wind made everything more difficult… or more exciting depending on how you choose to look at it. 🙂

First it was the laundry flying in my face as I was trying to get it up on the line. I couldn’t see what I was doing! I went around to the other side of the line so the wind would be blowing the clothes away from me. Only now the clothes were trying to escape my fingers as I struggled to get the clothespins on fast enough. Haha! It was kind of fun, like playing a game with nature.

Next it was the trash bag flying out of our van and spreading its contents along the ground. I hastily chased after it and picked up all the loose trash before it could get too far. That part was more annoying than anything else.

A little later, I looked over at the clothesline only to discover that half of our clothes were strewn all over the ground. The wind had violently yanked the clothing off of the line, clothespins and all. I went over and secured everything back onto the line. The clothes weren’t quite dry yet.

Then when I was doing the dishes, the wind turned the stream of water into a little balloon that sent drops of water flying everywhere (see photo above). It was really cool to watch but my clothes were soaked by the time I was finished washing everything. Oh well!

They were predicting thunderstorms this evening so I started cooking dinner early. It took forever to make because the wind was blowing away the heat and our poor little propane stove couldn’t keep up. We may have set a world record for the slowest cooking rice noodles in all of history. I couldn’t believe how long it took!

Thankfully, we were able to get the food ready and into our stomachs just in the nick of time. When it started to rain we got into the van with Ramona and closed all the doors.

We could see the edge of the storm coming towards us on the prairie. It looked like a grey line coming closer and closer. It was really interesting to watch! When it reached us, it started pouring! The raindrops made quite the racket on our metal roof but we were dry and happy in the van. Ahh… I’m just so thankful we have this little van. What a blessing!

Last night we had another adventure, but this time, unlike most of the other times, it was a fun adventure! Unfortunately the bad sleeping bag…
