I slept in until noon today! I’m grateful that I was able to rest and it definitely did my body good. At the same time, I haven’t needed to sleep that long in months so it was a little discouraging that I even needed it.
To be honest, a lot of discouraging things happened today… for one, a new RV showed up at our campsite and I reacted to it immediately. We ended up needing to switch spots while Brett was in the middle of doing today’s laundry. Poor Brett!
I feel like spending the day with Ramona and hugging my family might have flipped a switch and my reactivity is lighting up again. It seems like I’m reacting to something at every corner! It reminds me of the beginning of this mold avoidance journey. I couldn’t even drive through a town without reacting.
So, I didn’t really get to see my family today. We decided to drive around the wildlife loop in Custer State Park this evening so that we could do something “together” while still being apart. They went in their rental car and we followed behind in our van. We got to see wild buffalo, prairie dogs, mountain bluebirds and donkeys. I enjoyed it but it was bittersweet. I really wished that we could have been interacting more with my family.
We got back to our campground at around 9:00pm and heated our shower water. I took my shower first and got out only to find that I was reacting to something in the air. I got a headache and chest pain… classic exposure symptoms.
We decided to flee. I couldn’t afford another exposure when I was already in a weakened state. Brett grabbed the few things we needed and we headed to our favorite truck stop just outside of Rapid City. It was about an hour away.
We stopped at a gas station just before we got there and used their power outlet to heat more water. We both had to decontaminate again. We didn’t get to bed until 1:00am. We were exhausted!
I can’t even believe all of this is happening. Like I told Brett this afternoon, “It’s a good thing we’re good at survival mode.”
By the way, Brett and I made a beautiful PDF of my favorite resources for suffering souls. I created the content and he made it look fancy with his superduper graphic design skills. It’s available for free to my email subscribers. Click here to sign up and receive 5 Resources for the Suffering Soul.
