It may still be snowing here in South Dakota but the calendar tells me that Spring is here! I made it through the winter! I’m living indoors and doing really well again!
And guess what?! I had the best Resurrection Day ever! I spent the morning in a church packed with over 500 people! The scent of perfume was in the air and I was fine. I never imagined I’d be worshipping in church so soon when we were singing songs in the New Mexico desert last Easter. It’s amazing!
It was a different church than the one I tried in the fall and I didn’t experience any negative repercussions after the service at all. Nope. I just went home, took a decontamination shower (just to be safe) and prepared lunch. Then we Skyped my family for 2 hours. After that we went on a 1.5 hour hike to spy on “our cabin.”
“Our cabin” is a cozy log cabin that sits on top of a large hill overlooking the hiking trails behind our apartments. It’s surrounded by pine trees and tucked away in a pocket of some of the best air in South Dakota. We like to make-believe that someday we will live there with our (presumably) adorable future children. We decided to try hiking towards it and see how close we could get without being creepy. It was a steep climb but I’m quite strong now and I like to feel my heart pumping.
I was a little afraid that getting close to the cabin might destroy the fantasy because we’d find that it looked run down and potentially moldy. Well, fortunately or unfortunately, getting close to it only put fuel on the fire of our fantasy. The cabin is well maintained and has a large porch that is surrounded by amazing rocks and trees. It also has lovely expansive windows on the front of it. There are no other houses nearby and the air up there feels so good that it makes you giddy. I was laughing and smiling the whole hike. I could just imagine little boys playing on those rocks! We could host amazing retreats and church campouts up there! Haha!
It’s a silly fantasy, especially since the cabin turned out to be a lot larger and fancier than it looked from our apartments… but it sure feels good to be able to dream about the future again. I think that’s a healthy thing and a really good sign.
After our hike, we went out to Panera for dinner. I ate regular salad with regular chicken, regular dressing and regular walnuts. It was a happy day and a beautiful reminder of how far I’ve come.
Medical Notes: For those interested in specific medical details… I’ve recovered from my relapse! I stopped the sauna treatments about a month ago and replaced them with more convenient Epsom Salt baths. I also ran out of Cholestyramine after two months and since I was not at all interested in seeing a doctor, I decided to switch to modified citrus pectin. I’m eating a lot of fermented foods and continuing with the coffee enemas and mineral supplements.
By the way, Brett and I made a beautiful PDF of my favorite resources for suffering souls. I created the content and he made it look fancy with his superduper graphic design skills. It’s available for free to my email subscribers. Click here to sign up and receive 5 Resources for the Suffering Soul.
