Well… We went back to our campground today. Thankfully, the new campers were gone and I felt fine. Hooray! I got to do the usual hard labor of hand washing our laundry and preparing food.
Unfortunately, I felt like I hit a wall at around 4:30pm. I was exhausted and weak. I told Brett I couldn’t keep pushing my body. It was done for the day. I felt so bad to interrupt his work but he cheerfully finished the laundry for me. What a good guy!
Our plan was to check out another potential campsite this evening before it got dark so we just threw together a simple dinner. We had almond flour crackers with cheese and deli meat and raw sugar snap peas with carrots. Not too bad!
Then we headed out to explore the potential campground. We found some promising looking dirt roads along the way and I marked the spots on my phone’s map. If finding a good campground proves impossible we can always go back to boondocking.
When we arrived at the campground though, it seemed pretty good. I didn’t have any kind of reaction. The only concern is that the bathrooms have drywall (mold food!). I poked my head in but I couldn’t really tell whether or not they’d be a problem for me.
It definitely seems like this campground would be worth a shot. The RV sites are separate from the tent sites we’d be using. Which is really good because RVs can have serious mold problems.
They also have great cell service and wifi which is awesome for getting work done. We plan to make a reservation and come back to try it tomorrow night. Let’s hope it works out!

June 7, 2017 at 4:09 pmI know this struggle very well… Praying you find a good campground! One tip is we never parked next to an RV, or found camping spots that were pretty far from other people. And I got my doctor to sign for a disability placard so that we could reserve disability sights, which happened to be far from mold in the campgrounds I did well in the bathrooms. If you are ever out San Diego way, we can definitely tell you which campgrounds are good and which ones to avoid. One more tip, never take a necklace from a homeless person… I did that once while camping and my poor hubby had to spend the next day cleaning our tent with vital oxide (a mold killer). 😉
June 7, 2017 at 9:39 amThanks for the tips Andrea! We try to avoid RVs as well. That’s so terrible about the necklace! I definitely try my best to make sure things aren’t contaminated before bringing them into our van.
June 7, 2017 at 4:11 pmI pray this works out Ana!! Everyone needs to feel they can stay in a place and call it home for awhile. All this going here and there has got to be exhausting!!!

Amen. Thank you so much! 💕We definitely want to go back to Jemez sometime. It just doesn’t sound very appealing to drive around a bunch right now. Haha. I’m sure we’ll be back eventually though.😊
