We decided to take a break from working on the van today so that we could drive to Rapid City, South Dakota to set up an address at America’s Mailbox and pick up our mattress that got sent to Sara and Peter’s mailbox. America’s Mailbox is a great service that provides addresses for wanderers like us, who don’t have a particular place to call home. The drive to Rapid City took about 5 hours but we passed the time pleasantly.
When we arrived, we got a hotel room that we didn’t plan to sleep in, so that we could establish residency in South Dakota. Apparently, all you need to establish residency in South Dakota is a receipt for one night in a hotel. Haha! I guess they want to make it easy for people like us to choose South Dakota over other states.
We decided to try taking showers in the hotel just to see if I could tolerate it. I went first and the warm water was so wonderful! Unfortunately, I started reacting just as Brett was finishing up his shower and we had to rush out of there. I could feel my throat swelling and had to decontaminate by rinsing my head, face and arms and changing my clothes. Still, I sort of think the warm water was worth it!

I can relate a little bit. : ) When I came home from living in the bush in Africa for half a year, I remember how I appreciated the warm shower – right out of the wall, too ; ) . So easy to take things for granted. : )

May 19, 2017 at 1:36 pmThere is nothing like a warm shower! I am so happy for you. 😉
I have been thinking as I read your posts, “Do you carry an Epi pen with you?” My daughter has some food allergies and experienced throat closing due to peanuts, it can be scary but praise God she has never had to use us but she carries one just in case.
Praying blessings on your and Brett<3
