Remember the contaminated neighbors from day 92? Well, getting away from them has made a big difference! Yay!
I’ve also been taking a roundabout way to get to the bathroom to avoid passing by their campsite. Just to be extra careful.
Unfortunately, I forgot to do that this morning and when I walked past their campsite… I felt it! It’s crazy that such a transient exposure could affect me so much! I decontaminated as soon as I got back to our spot and felt better immediately. Wow! I don’t know why I’m still amazed. I guess because it’s such a weird “treatment.”
The episode did scare me a little though because it reminded me of just how vulnerable I still am. I’m functional and can feel almost normal as long as I’m inside a protective bubble of clean air. Yet as soon as something bursts through that bubble I start going downhill pretty fast.
So many different variables can ruin a place for me: the wind can blow something in, a neighbor can set up a contaminated tent, someone can start a campfire with moldy wood. Any number of things can drive us away from our spot without a moments notice! It’s a good thing being sick has taught me to live with unpredictability. Still, I long for normalcy!
By the way, Brett and I made a beautiful PDF of my favorite resources for suffering souls. I created the content and he made it look fancy with his superduper graphic design skills. It’s available for free to my email subscribers. Click here to sign up and receive 5 Resources for the Suffering Soul.
